The FTC remains our most written about topic
Happy Birthday to us! The month marks our second year in operation providing the direct selling channel with the news and information you need in order to make the best decisions for your businesses.
It’s been a privilege to serve you in this way, and we look forward to many years to come. We certainly have had no lack of topics recently with the FTC’s aggressive stance on claims, and the COVID-19 virus disrupting all business.
We’ve decided to remain digital for the month of June as we know many offices are still unoccupied. We intend to return to print soon! I think we all prefer to feel the weight of the actual paper in our hands, though we are grateful for technology that allows us all to continue operations to some degree during this time. Our cover story this month covers the information discussed by DSA President Joseph Marinaro and Associate Director of the Division of Marketing Practices at the FTC, Lois Greisman, on their recent webinar concerning the warning letters that were sent out about messaging around COVID-19.
I commend them both for taking the time to directly confront the issues surrounding claims, and Greisman’s answers give clear indication as to the FTC’s view far beyond pandemic claims.
If you have not watched the webinar, go to dsa.org where you can see it, even if you are not a member. The DSA has made this information available to everyone. They are also conducting bi-weekly surveys on issues surrounding COVID-19, and invite all non-members to participate and share in the findings. Please contact Ben Gamse at [email protected] to be a part of this initiative.
May God grant an extra blessing to all you families who had to jump into home-schooling for this year, whether you wanted to or not! Hopefully, the summer months will bring extra relaxation for everyone.
