In October, the U.S. Department of Transportation bestowed certification to United Parcel Services (UPS) to operate a drone airline throughout the U.S. The full certification to operate in unrestricted areas has not been granted to any other carrier, though Wing Aviation has been granted partial certification. Currently, UPS is using drones under the certification for healthcare deliveries at a large hospital at North Carolina, though the company anticipates expanding soon. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) oversight of the drone deliveries allows them to be made out of the line of operator sight and also at night.
