Direct sellers show people-first spirit in Ukraine relief effort
A friend of mine wearily remarked last month, “What a decade 2022 has been.” And this was before the tragic events of the Ukraine invasion, the largest European military conflict since the end of World War II.
Indeed, the shocking events of the past several weeks have reverberated throughout the world, affecting national policy, financial markets, political discourse, and the operations of countless U.S. and international businesses.
We at Social Selling News have been heartbroken by the stories, accounts, and images coming out of Ukraine, but are inspired and amazed by the resolve and bravery of its citizens. This includes our own development team who, to this day, remains in Ukraine offering their assistance to us despite having to relocate across the country, care for own their own families, and deal with significant internet and communications disruptions.
This dedication and bravery is nothing less than humbling, and I am grateful to be able to dedicate this issue of SSN to them.
I am also uplifted to report in this issue on the many direct selling companies that have jumped in to assist with relief efforts. So many people in this channel, both in executive positions and in the field, have once again demonstrated their people-first attitude that is at the center of the social
As U.S. regulators continue the process this month of considering a new rule that will directly impact every direct seller in the U.S. market, I believe that a renewed dedication to this people-first spirit will best serve the leaders and entrepreneurs of this channel as they communicate their opinions to the Federal Trade Commission in the coming weeks.
If at every level–corporate policy, compensation plans, training programs, compliance education and customer care–direct selling companies remain focused on the human aspect of each decision they make, I am confident that we will emerge from our current challenges stronger than ever.
Let the courageous people of Ukraine be our reminder to always do right by each other, in our lives and in our businesses, so that our successes will be worth sharing and multiplying.
