The entire business landscape has changed dramatically over the past decade and our channel of distribution has certainly been impacted. Technology has brought a revolution to the way we buy and sell goods. The shifts we’ve experienced within our channel—from the empowered consumer to the social media explosion to the rise of the gig economy—have had lasting effects.
We live in a changing world with new challenges, and as always, change brings opportunity. This publication, Social Selling News, has been born in this context, with a mission to inform and engage our direct selling community in order to foster open discussion of challenges and highlight opportunities.
Our purpose is to provide you, our readers, with actionable insights that empower you to build and run your companies. We intend to provide the most relevant developments and information, research trends, and tackle current problem areas such as regulation and public scrutiny, celebrate new hires and promotions, and provide thought leadership for our channel.
We’ve chosen the new shifting of thought at the FTC for the cover story of our first issue for this very reason. The FTC’s shift from charging Digital Altitude as a pyramid scheme to focusing on product and income claims under “deceptive marketing” has enormous ramifications for our channel. We’ve dedicated two articles and our Risk Roundup column to dissecting this new approach and exploring what companies are doing in order to stay off their radar.
In addition to providing in-depth articles on the most relevant topics touching our channel, we’ve developed some exciting sections for this publication. Each month we’ll present a well-researched and thoughtful Special Report breaking down a trend or development you can leverage in your business. Again delivering on the promise of providing actionable insights, this month’s Special Report breaks down Big Data, one of your most important, and possibly underutilized, business assets. The corresponding infographic was custom-designed just for you.
We think you’ll also enjoy our monthly lists in The Ranks, a section that will provide well-researched lists of all shapes and sizes, sorted and ranked by various criteria. This month we bring you a list of compensation plan and genealogy back office software companies in our channel. See The Ranks on page 13.
Each month our content will be designed to inform, enlighten and equip you with the most relevant information available to our channel. If there’s a topic you’d like to see discussed in these pages, feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]
We hope to see you, right here, each month.
Warmly,
