Hello friends, and welcome to the new year!
The start of a new year always brings a sense of possibility—a chance to reflect on the past and set our sights on what’s next. It’s an ideal time to focus on priorities, embrace opportunities and prepare for the challenges ahead.
In our industry, change is always around the corner, and this year is no exception. With new faces and shifting priorities in Washington, D.C., there’s a lot to keep an eye on—particularly at the FTC. It’s too early to tell exactly how the new administration will approach the direct selling channel, but I’m hopeful we’ll see a path forward that allows businesses to thrive while maintaining our shared commitment to compliance and ethical practices.
After all, everyone benefits when consumers and prospective team members are engaged with transparency and integrity. Clear communication, honest earnings claims and robust support systems are not just regulatory requirements—they’re essential for building trust and loyalty.
As the gig economy continues to explode, these principles matter now more than ever. Millions of people, especially younger generations, are looking for flexible and meaningful work opportunities, and direct selling has the potential to meet that demand. But to attract and retain this next wave of entrepreneurs, our channel must continue to evolve, implementing policies and practices that align with the expectations and values of today’s workforce.
I am looking forward to discussions about these topics at the Channel Summit, coming up next month on Feb. 12-14, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Hosted by Social Selling News in partnership with the DSA, this event is all about tackling the big issues facing our channel and figuring out how we can stay ahead in today’s fast-changing market.
We’ll cover everything from evolving regulatory standards and communication strategies to growth opportunities and best practices. It’s also a great chance to meet up with industry peers, swap ideas and gain some fresh perspectives to bring back to your business.
If you haven’t registered yet, don’t wait—spots are filling up, and registration will close soon. Head to thechannelsummit.org today to secure your ticket. I’d love to see you there!
