Hayneedle, Walmart’s furniture and decor e-commerce website, and Walmart Labs are partnering to test new technology by which the consumer uploads a picture of a home furnishing from a magazine or a showroom and Hayneedle searches for a similar item available for sale on its site.
Target and U.K. fashion retailer Farfetch are also experimenting with visual searches via third party vendors, Pinterest and Syte, respectively.
